We work mostly with three systems: OpenSky.com, Admin, and Desk
...but they don't integrate well
These tools help bridge the gap. They are called Bookmarklets: small pieces of javascript that can do much more than just take you to a page. Think of them as Smart Bookmarks.
They all work basically the same way: if you select some text on a webpage and click the bookmarklet it will act on your selection. If you don't select anything (or if it does not understand your selection) it will prompt you to type/paste your query.
Select any text and press this bookmarklet - you'll be taken to a search page and from there, if it recognizes a tracking number you'll be taken directly to the carrier's page automatically. It ignores spaces, punctuation, and capitalization.
If it doesn't recognize a tracking number it will first ask for confirmation. If you still decide to search it will check Google
Select a slug and you'll be taken to that merchant's dashboard.
Otherwise select some text and this will search for email addresses. It will then impersonate the first email address it finds, and take you straight to the customer's Purchases Page!
** CHECK THIS: Feel like beta testing v2.0? This one works with the microsites! And I changed the name because it seemed fun :-)
Here's how it works: You can use it just like before - but now, if you go back to the window where you first clicked the bookmarklet you will see choices for each of the microsites. If you don't click anything it will disappear after 7 seconds - so you wont notice it. But of course you can click anywhere in the background to close it right away.
Also, if you are on one of the microsites (or OpenSky) then it will impersonate on that site, though unfortunately the microsites do not let us impersonate straight to the Orders page :-(
Slugs work the same
Here it is: Imposter
This bookmarklet detects Order Numbers, Email Addresses, Tracking Numbers, Full Names, Phone Numbers, and Last Names and searches accordingly
If it finds any order numbers it will open them in Admin. As many as it finds
If none are found then it will look for email addresses and search using the first one it finds
If it finds neither then it will look for phone numbers and do a User search on the first one. Then if you find the user you can search for orders.
If it finds none of those then it will search by name. If it looks like a name it will search automatically, otherwise it will ask for confirmation.
This also will scan your selection for any Order Numbers, Email Addresses or Phone Numbers. It will then seach Desk for cases that match any of those criteria.
If you are on an order then it will automatically search for that Order, Email, and Phone.
This works only in NextGenDesk and requires opening a new window. If you use Classic Desk or would prefer to stay in one window you can use this alternate bookmarklet. It will give you text to copy and paste into the Desk search field.
Here it is: DeskSearch
Note: Sometimes RingCentral stops responding to telephone links. This is unrelated to these bookmarklets. If it stops working just exit RingCentral. You don't have to restart it. When you click the bookmarklet again it will restart automatically.
We don't have to go to UPS to create labels very often anymore. But that makes it easier to forget a step. This bookmarklet does everything but choose the merchant.
First of all: forget that blue button in Admin.
Here's what you do:
1) While on an order in Admin click the bookmarklet and you'll be prompted to copy the text (just like before)
2) Copy the text, press OK, and it will open the UPS returns page in a new tab/window
3) You'll probably need to sign in. After you do, click the bookmarklet again and it will take you to the returns page
4) On the returns page click the bookmarklet again and you'll be prompted to paste what you just copied (just like the old one)
5) When you press OK not only will it fill in the customer's information, it will also set the weight to 1lb, set the description to the order number, set it to "print" the label, and open the Ship To page so you can select the merchant.
6) Select the merchant to ship to and you're done. Just follow the instructions to finish creating the label
So the Plan Orders page can be searched by email, but not slug; and the Sellers page can be searched by slug, but not email. This bookmarklet will search accordingly.
Then, for example, if you want to search Plan Orders but only have a slug, no big deal: it will take you to the Sellers results, but you'll have the email address right there so you can try again and get to the Plan Orders. Or vice versa.
Added bonus: if you are on any merchant page (including products) you can skip highlighting anything. The bookmarklet will search sellers for that merchant's slug automatically
If you click the top right corner it makes a new note - like turning the page in a notebook.
Clicking the bottom left corner pulls up the history - like flipping back through the pages.
And I added a bit of style too. The bottom right corner pulls up the settings. Change the text color, corner color, or background. You cannot upload a picture, but you can use the address of any image you find online. Even animated gifs!
Most timers are about alerting you at the end
But if you are on your lunch break you need to be back and ready before the timer goes off
This has just three buttons: 1hr Lunch, 30min Lunch, and 10min Break.
One cool feature is that the time is stored in the URL. So you can share the link with someone else, or email it to yourself and see the same timer on your computer in the office that you started on your phone.
